Born in Shenyang, Liaoning, Chinese strawweight Yan Xiaonan trained in Sanda before starting her professional career in 2009. The switch-stance striker was the initial female competitor from China to sign with the UFC. Representing Team Alpha Male, China Top Team, and Extreme Sanda, she has established her career on striking skills, highlighted by high-profile victories over Mackenzie Dern and Jéssica Andrade.
Entering UFC 329 with a record of 18-5-0 and one no-contest, Yan has experienced mixed results lately. Following her wins over Dern and Andrade, she lost a unanimous decision to Zhang Weili in April 2024. She bounced back with a unanimous decision victory against Tabatha Ricci in November 2024, but subsequently lost her most recent match to Virna Jandiroba by decision in April 2025.
