An American striker representing Black Lion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jamahal Hill relocated from Chicago to Grand Rapids during his youth. He turned professional in 2017 and eventually joined the UFC's light heavyweight class. In January 2023, he captured the division's title by defeating Glover Teixeira, making him the initial graduate of Dana White's Contender Series to earn a promotional championship.
Heading into his appearance at UFC 329, Hill holds a record of 12-4 with one no contest. Since winning the championship, he has suffered three consecutive defeats. This string of losses includes a knockout against Alex Pereira, a technical knockout at the hands of Jiří Procházka, and most recently, a unanimous decision loss to Khalil Rountree Jr. in June 2025.
