Representing the United States, this veteran lightweight competitor has been active in professional mixed martial arts since 2008. Training out of Pinnacle MMA, he relies on a defensive boxing approach, often employing the Philly Shell technique and stance adjustments to land counter-strikes. Before joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship, he held titles in both the lightweight and junior welterweight divisions for King of the Cage. Over his long tenure in the octagon, he has consistently maintained high volume striking statistics and secured various performance and fight of the night honors.

Entering this competition with an overall professional record of 36-17-1 and one no-contest, he arrives on a four-fight winning streak. His recent successes include a knockout victory over Terrance McKinney and a submission win against Jeremy Stephens. Prior to those, he earned a stoppage win versus Daniel Zellhuber and a split decision result against Lance Gibson Jr. His sole loss during this recent five-bout stretch occurred in March 2025, when he was defeated by Maurício Ruffy.
