A bantamweight competitor from Japan, Rinya Nakamura transitioned to professional mixed martial arts in 2021 after a decorated wrestling career that featured a 2017 U23 World Championship victory. Now a member of the American Top Team gym, he solidified his status as a top prospect by winning the first-ever Road to UFC tournament in his division. His rise through the ranks has been defined by his ability to pair a high-level wrestling background with clinical finishing skills.

Nakamura currently carries a 10-1-0 professional record into his bout at UFC Fight Night: Rosas Jr. vs. Barcelos. His most recent outing was an August 2025 knockout victory over Nathan Fletcher, which followed a unanimous decision loss to Muin Gafurov earlier that year. His preceding three matches all resulted in successful unanimous decision wins against Toshiomi Kazama, Fernie Garcia, and Carlos Vera.
