Cody Garbrandt transitioned from collegiate wrestling and amateur boxing to become a prominent mixed martial artist. While affiliated with gyms such as Xtreme Couture and Team Alpha Male, he competed in both the flyweight and bantamweight divisions. His professional career peaked in 2016 when he captured the bantamweight championship by overcoming Dominick Cruz, and he has since headlined several major events against top-tier competitors.

Entering UFC Freedom 250, Garbrandt holds a career record of 15-7-0. His most recent outing in March saw him secure a unanimous decision win against Xiao Long. This victory followed a pair of earlier setbacks, including a submission defeat to Deiveson Figueiredo and a unanimous decision loss to Raoni Barcelos in June 2025. His recent resume also features a knockout of Brian Kelleher and a decision win over Trevin Jones.
