Polish light heavyweight Jan Błachowicz is an orthodox striker and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt training out of Berkut WCA Fight Team. He began martial arts young, entering MMA in 2007. Błachowicz reached the pinnacle of the UFC by capturing the light heavyweight title in September 2020 and defending his crown against Israel Adesanya in March 2021.
Heading into UFC Fight Night: du Plessis vs. Usman with a 2-3-2 record, Błachowicz has faced mixed results. Following a TKO win over Aleksandar Rakić due to a knee injury, he had a split draw with Magomed Ankalaev. Consecutive decision defeats to Alex Pereira and Carlos Ulberg followed, before he most recently fought to a majority draw against Bogdan Guskov.
