ISLAM MAKHACHEV

Hailing from Makhachkala, Dagestan, Russian competitor Islam Makhachev refines his skills at the American Kickboxing Academy. Operating from a switch stance, the fighter utilizes dominant wrestling, a judo black belt, and multiple sambo championships. After winning the lightweight title against Charles Oliveira, he moved to welterweight, where he made history as the first UFC double champion.

Makhachev brings an undefeated 8-0-0 record into UFC Fight Night: du Plessis vs. Usman. His five most recent performances include a decision and a knockout via head kick and punches against Alexander Volkanovski, followed by consecutive brabo choke submissions of Dustin Poirier and Renato Moicano. Most recently, he secured a unanimous decision over Jack Della Maddalena.
