An American lightweight competitor, Kai Kamaka III grew up in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, learning martial arts as a child from his father. The orthodox wrestler represents both 808 Fight Factory and Xtreme Couture. Active professionally since 2012, "The Fighting Hawaiian" previously fought in Bellator and the PFL before joining the UFC.
