KAI ASAKURA

Hailing from Japan, Kai Asakura began his professional journey in 2012. He developed his striking-focused approach while training at Japan Top Team. Throughout his tenure in major domestic promotions, he established himself as a prominent figure within the bantamweight division. His career trajectory is defined by a tenure as the Rizin Bantamweight Champion, bolstered by significant knockout victories against top-tier opponents like Kyoji Horiguchi.

Entering this September 2023 event, Asakura holds a professional record of 20-4-0. His recent performances demonstrate a mixed run of results. He secured a knee-to-the-body knockout win over Yuki Motoya in May 2023. Prior to that, he experienced a unanimous decision loss to Hiromasa Ougikubo in late 2021, which followed a streak of three consecutive decision victories against Kenta Takizawa, Alan Yamaniha, and Shooto Watanabe.
