KAI ASAKURA

Representing Japan, Kai Asakura developed his reputation as an orthodox striker throughout the Japanese circuit, notably securing two reigns as the Rizin bantamweight king. Before transitioning to the global stage, he claimed significant wins over opponents such as Kyoji Horiguchi. Though his initial UFC tenure included struggles while competing at flyweight, he eventually opted to return to his natural 135-pound weight class. He currently trains under the banner of Japan Top Team.

Entering this contest with a professional record of 22-6, Asakura is building momentum following his recent move back to bantamweight. His latest appearance in May 2026 resulted in a knockout victory over Cameron Smotherman. Prior to that win, he endured a submission defeat to Tim Elliott and a technical submission loss against Alexandre Pantoja. Earlier, he secured stoppage wins against both Juan Archuleta and Yuki Motoya.
